If you’ve been reading my entries it has become obvious. There are no entries and there is definitely little or no progress. On Pat Flynn’s podcast episode 12, he says to “just do things” one at a time. I suppose I must interject with an “easier said than done!” I’m definitely playing Devil’s advocate here, but Pat Flynn only works 4 to 5 hours a day which just makes his mastery of on-line business that much more amazing. I haven’t given up, but I work a 9 to 5 and making progress at a snail’s pace. I know that to break out of this little rut, I’ve established a checklist for every site with small tasks to accomplish every day. You must always keep the end result in mind. There is an amazing book called “The Slight Edge” which I found life changing, but for some reason or other, it has never really caught momentum along the lore of the must reads like Gary Vaynerchuk ’s Crush it or Tim Ferris’ 4-hour workweek. In the book, he doesn’t re-invent the wheel. Instead Jeff Olson hammers home the idea that if you do just a little every day, you will achieve your goals. But if you don’t at least do a little bit, you
will actually go backwards! This is absolutely huge and true for me. Once the procrastination kicks in (In my case that being not doing at least something daily), The poison of time stagnation will kick in and the next thing you know it will be nine months later with no significant progress. I would say that there are scores of things that I need to learn that would just take this site and currently a second site into what I would consider just basic functionality. Things like learning how to add pictures, add hyperlinks, creating one click affiliate links. It is literally just the basics. What I will be doing now is to narrow down these seemingly basic tasks and define them specifically. That way, when I have my 45 minutes to an hour a day to work on this and my other site, I can check these accomplishments off and utilize that progress as a huge psychological boost towards my eventual success.
A second factor for my snail’s pace progress is my lack of any cash to invest in my internet endeavor for now. As of now, due to being in debt repayment mode due to the immense debt I’ve accumulated, I can’t spend any money to invest in my online business. Although this frustrates and limits me, saying I’m stuck would be an excuse. There are a ton of things I can do in the meantime. I can watch thousands of you tube videos to learn how to build headers on Photoshop. I can learn those tasks that I previously mentioned again trough you tube videos. I can look at other sites to get an idea of where I need to be. Although honestly, doing this sometimes overwhelms me, so I strategically don’t do too much of that.
